The Heisenberg Ensemble was founded by Gillian Craig in 1988 and throughout it has played to acclaim.
It performs a wide ranging repertoire from the great Classical and Romantic works through to exciting new commissions for the ensemble, including Jeremy Thurlow’s Piano Concerto and Richard Ingham playing his own Concerto for Saxophone and Accordion with Mary McCarthy (a work commissioned with funding from the Scottish Arts Council).
The orchestra has also given talented young musicians at the start of their careers a vital opportunity to play as soloists.
In its 20th anniversary year it established the Youth Experience Project giving young instrumentalists experience playing alongside expert adult players.
“The only uncertain thing about this ensemble is its name…”!
